The Membership Director is one of the twelve members of the Board of Directors. Their mission is to ensure members feel part of the DVS community.
Duties according to Bylaws
- Set strategy for ensuring members feel part of the DVS community
- Create and maintain a structure that enables the creation of community initiatives such as self-organizing teams and focus groups.
- Define local affiliated groups and manage the addition and continued involvement of each group
- Manage member spaces and platforms, creating spaces for mutual support and critique
- Respond to membership questions and suggestions
- Manage membership database
- Create structures that help to support members getting more involved with DVS
- Manage committee recruitment
- Manage Membership Committee
Tasks
- Enable creation of community initiatives / self-organizing teams/focus groups
- Define local affiliated groups, and manage the addition and continued involvement of each group
- Highlight members
- Iterate on membership fee structure, keeping inclusivity in mind.
- Facilitate critique and mutual support among the membership
- Managing member spaces/platforms
- Managing Committee recruitment
- Responding to membership admin questions
- Manage membership database
- Support the growth of members into leadership positions within DVS

- How do we make sure that members feel a part of the community?
- How do we ensure the community is healthy? And if not, how do we fix that?
- How do people know about membership?
- How do members get more involved with DVS initiatives?
- Do we have the right membership fee structures?
- How do we highlight members?
